Practical Probabilistic Slope Stability Analysis
A practical procedure is described for implementing Spencer’s method of slices with varying side force inclination. The search for the noncircular critical slip surface is accomplished using spreadsheet-automated constrained optimization. The deterministic formulation is then extended probabilistically to compute the Hasofer-Lind reliability index via constrained optimization of the dispersion ...
متن کاملrodbar dam slope stability analysis using neural networks
Seismic Slope Stability Analysis Ofearth Dam: Somemodern Practices
The evolutions of practices of seismic slope stability analysis of earth embankment/dam are discussed in this paper. The basic concepts of various methods, salient features, advantages and limitations of each of them are elucidate. Methods for both stability analysis and deformation calculation are presented. Methods for calculation of deformation of post liquefaction stage are also briefed.
متن کاملNumerical probabilistic analysis for slope stability in fractured rock masses using DFN-DEM approach
Due to existence of uncertainties in input geometrical properties of fractures, there is not any unique solution for assessing the stability of slopes in jointed rock masses. Therefore, the necessity of applying probabilistic analysis in these cases is inevitable. In this study a probabilistic analysis procedure together with relevant algorithms are developed using Discrete Fracture Network-Dis...
متن کامل1 Traditional and Advanced Probabilistic Slope Stability Analysis
The paper contrasts results obtained by the traditional First Order Reliability Method (FORM) and a more advanced Random Finite Element Method (RFEM) in a benchmark problem of slope stability analysis with random shear strength parameters. The key difference between the methods is that RFEM takes into account spatial correlation in a rigorous way allowing slope failure to occur naturally along ...
